Veeam-Backed VMware VMs Can Now Be Directly Restored to ZStack!

ZStack is pleased to announce that its self-developed ZStack Cloud and ZStack ZSphere virtualization platforms have successfully integrated with Veeam Backup & Replication. This deep integration between ZStack and Veeam (versions v12-v13) provides users with a more comprehensive, secure, and efficient data protection solution across their virtualization and cloud environments.

Deep Integration for Enhanced Data Protection

ZStack Cloud is a private and seamless hybrid cloud product built on the “4S” philosophy: Simple, Scalable, Strong, and Smart. It offers core capabilities including compute, network, and storage virtualization, as well as heterogeneous virtualization management, V2V migration, minute-level backup, second-level data protection, cross-site disaster recovery, and multi-tenancy management. With its lightweight architecture, ZStack Cloud can be deployed in as little as 30 minutes.

This integration is supported in ZStack ZSphere V5.0.2 (and later) and ZStack Cloud V5.4.7 (and later), delivering four core capabilities: cross-platform VM recovery, agentless VM backup, independent deployment architecture, and rapid file-level recovery.

Cross-Platform VM Recovery: VMware VMs backed up by Veeam can now be restored directly to ZSphere and ZStack Cloud platforms. Agentless VM Backup: Supports agentless backup for ZStack VMs, eliminating the need to install agents within virtual machines. This significantly reduces resource consumption and operational complexity, minimizing the impact on production systems while simplifying backup management for large-scale environments.

Independent Deployment Architecture: Veeam backup components support independent installation and maintenance. They can be upgraded separately without requiring a synchronized upgrade with the ZStack platform. This design offers greater deployment flexibility, allowing the data protection system to evolve at its own pace while ensuring stability and sustainability.

Rapid File-Level Recovery: Leverages Veeam’s file-level recovery capabilities to restore individual files on demand.
